Wilvale Netball team | Posted by
Sarah on Thu 13 Nov 2008 |
|
Some of you may not be aware but we have a girl's netball team under the Wilvale banner and have had so for many years now. Our current team of girls are U16'S and are top of their league. Debbie Belcher has run the team for many years and has been a great ambassador for the club. We want to continue with a netball team/teams and are aware there must be several girls who would love the opportunity to play netball. Teams start in leagues from 9 years old upwards but can train at a younger age. There are 9 girls in a squad. If we have anyone who is interested in coaching a team then we would love to hear from you. Debbie and her girls have offered to help and guide you through everything from training venues, games, kit, etc to help getting a team up and running. This is a great opportunity not only to get your kids involved in sport but also to get involved with the club/community. |

Fundraising Co-ordinator | Posted by

The club are looking for a volunteer to become a fundraising co-coordinator. This would involve attending 3-4 committee meetings a year to discuss and implement ways of helping us raise funds with the help of 3-4 people in a sub committee. A few things we have done/looking towards doing are Asdas bucket collections, fireworks night, sponsored walks and fundays. All have been successful. We are a friendly bunch of guys/girls who enjoy making things happen for the club for our children so please advise if you are interested in helping out. |

Our under 15's team who play in the Blackwater and Dengie league are looking to increase their squad as a few players have sustained injuries outside of Football and will be out for the majority of the season. Can you please ask friends/family if you know of any 15 year olds looking to join a team. The lads train on Saturday mornings and play games on Sundays. At the moment they are borrowing players to make a team so any help would be greatly appreciated. |

Registration Procedures 2008-2009 | Posted by
Sarah on Tue 27 May 2008 |
|
Please note that for 08/09 registrations, the club has a new procedure. A Registration Day will be held 10.00am - 3.00pm on Saturday 12th July 2008 at the offices in MKM, 7 Montrose Road, Dukes Park Industrial Estate, Chelmer Village. Registration Cards will be available for you to complete, and these must be signed by a parent or guardian and by the player. Please note the following: - You must bring 2 recently taken passport sized photographs. The Leagues will NOT permit the use of the same photographs that were used last year, and in fact they have procedures in place to prevent this happening. Also, players can not wear hats and the photograph must show the players entire face. - Club's Players Code of Conduct. This is for you to retain and to ensure that your child is aware of the standard of behavior that the club expects from its players. As a related matter, please note that in accordance with Club Rules, parents are responsible to settle any fines issued on their child by a League for dissent/misconduct etc. - Parent/Guardian's Code of Conduct This is for parents/guardians to read and sign. It sets out the standard of behavior that the club expects from parents on the sidelines, so that players don't feel they are being harassed, and can enjoy their game. - Parent/Player Consent Form For the use of photographic and recorded images. This includes recommended rules that the club must follow. The form requires the signature of parent/guardian and player. - Registration Fees and Subs Please note that the club's AGM will be held on Tuesday 8 July 2008 in the upper area of Chelmer Village Hall, commencing at 8.00pm. All parents and guardians are welcome to attend. It is at the AGM that the level of registration fee and subs is set. Consequently I am unable to currently advise what these will be for next season, but naturally this information will be available on registration day. We do anticipate that fees will be similar to those that were set for 2007/08. Please note that the club's Secretaries will not be able to register any player on the day unless: - The Registration Cards are fully completed and signed by parent/guardian and player. - Photographs are full faced, passport sized, recently taken, and the player is NOT wearing a hat. - Codes of Conduct/Consent forms have been read and signed where necessary -Registration Fee is paid |

Match report by Martin Moss (Under 12’s Manager) | Posted by
Sarah on Mon 12 May 2008 |
|
We have finally, today, finished our season It's been a bit of a marathon (26 games) but one where the team has performed consistently well. We've had our most successful season ever results wise (The team won the Sportmanship award last year). We finished runners up in Division 3 of the B&W League (2 points behind Meadow Youth, who we, crazily, beat home & away!), lost in the Semi-Finals of the League Cup to Writtle Minors 6-5 on agg, and lost 2-1 to Maldon Town Pumas (the best team in the whole League) in the Quarter -Finals of the Knockout Cup. A year of being so near to success, but one where the players can be very proud of what they achieved. A 9-2 success at Southminster today confirmed our runners up spot in the League. The team scored 97 goals in all competitions this year. Matt Thomas scored 4 today and finished with a fantastic total of 33 goals, and Ryan Brewer also scored his 30th of the year again a great achievement. A personal thank-you to Tom who coaches the team and to all the team for their hard work throughout the year the team have an excellent spirit and camaraderie and it's been a pleasure being with them. Also a quick thank-you to the continued support of the parents, another great turn out today and our sponsor (Steve Hammond of Bartlett & Hammond estate agents) |

I'm please to let you know that Steve Hammond of Bartlett Hammond Estate Agents has agreed to supply 50 Estate Agent boards to advertise our fun day (Saturday 21 June 08 at Chancellor Park). The more we advertise the event, the more people we are likely to get to come over, thereby increasing club funds that can be used to improve and enhance football for all our club's teams. The boards are likely to be delivered approximately 2 weeks before the fun day, and be collected during the week following the fun day. Consequently, I would be grateful if you would be able to agree to have a board in your front garden. If so, please contact Martin Forman at MForman@williampears.co.uk with your address and let him know whether or not you can erect the board yourself, or whether you need this to be done for you. |

Wilvale v Focus Ferrers | Posted by
Sarah on Thu 08 May 2008 |
|
Report by Chris Barnes – Under 10’s The under 10's played in the Northney Division Cup final at Burnham Ramblers on Saturday26th April. Needing to win against Focus Ferrers to secure a league and cup double the boys and Megan were excited at the prospect of adding to their earlier successes against the same team. Focus were the only team to beat us in the league though and proved to be very tough opposition in a game played at 24 degrees centigrade heat. Wilvale had the majority of play in what was a very exciting game. The Focus goalkeeper made a great save from Alex in the first half to keep the goal less scoreline. Focus had one shot of note in the first half which was dealt with after a nasty bounce threatened a score against the run of play. The second half was just as exciting with end to end play between two evenly matched teams. The best move of the match was between Connor & Megan which would have graced any game. Sadly Megan's shot was blocked before it found the target. The defining moment came when Alex ended yet another mazy run with a fantastic swerving drive that was headed for the roof of the net. The Focus goalkeeper tipped the effort around the post as the whole Wilvale contingent was getting ready to celebrate the winner. This save was a magnificent effort that any keeper would have been proud of. The game went to extra time with everyone fearing a Focus breakaway goal. This goal never came meaning the game has to go to a replay. If the replay is half as good as the initial match we will have a great game on our hands. Saturday was a great spectacle that both teams should be very proud to have been a part of. |

League Winners | Posted by

report by Mark Couldridge, manager Under13 Warriors. ‘Our team Wilvale Rangers Warriors under 13s won league Division 2 on Sunday 27th April. This is our 2nd title in 3 years and now we will be in Division 1 and will go for that one. I would like to say how proud of all the boys I am. They have put so much hard work in this season and they deserve all the praise they get. When we set out at under 11s, I said we will start at the bottom and work our way up and that is what we have done, winning Division 4 and cup in our first season, then the following season put up 2 leagues. Our aim that season was to stay in the league which we did and again got to the cup final. This season was to win the league and they did and again in the cup final on May 11th. Next year we will try for Division 1. In fact the boys have only lost 8 games in 3 years since they were the under 10s. 6 of them were last year. I would like to say a big thank you to all my players for all their hard work and effort. They are great lads and we all respect each other. Roll on next season’. |

One Game Away from the Double! | Posted by
Sarah on Thu 17 Apr 2008 |

Congratulation to the under 10's team who won their Blackwater & Dengie Northney Division on Sunday with 3 games to spare! Below is a report by their trainer Chris Barnes. 'In vile conditions we had an early scare & Southminster deservedly led 2-1 at half time. It could have been worse as luckily for us their ever threatening no 9 smashed another shot against the inside of a post. Our astute coach Mr Miller took action in the interval and assigned a player to man-mark and so deal with the threat from the player in question. Who needs an Italian in charge of the England team when we have such homegrown riches to choose from! With the driving encouragement from our manager Mr Holman the boys and Megan got into gear and scored four without response to clinch the game 5-2 and the title. Megan had a great game as usual and was very unlucky not to score the 6th when Luke played a great pass to her with minutes to go. My only input was to be the coldest referee in the country It was hard to build enthusiasm in conditions that Eddie Waring (showing my age) would have been proud of! Although it was absoulutely freezing the boys and girl kept smiling as usual til the end. I can't say the same for the miserable old ref! The players celebrated with a twix biscuit (some even got two). Hopefully we will all be able to celebrate properly if we win the cup on the 26th April. We will celebrate whatever the outcome of that game however in what has been a fantastic season. So if you happen to be passing Burnham Ramblers ground at 3.30pm on Saturday 26th April, please feel free to come and join us for the Final itself. Role on the 2008/2009 season. Come on you Oranges! |

Corringham Cosmos 0 - Wilvale Rangers U6’s 1 | Posted by
Sarah on Sat 12 Apr 2008 |
|
The first half Wilvale played into the wind, which gave Cosmos the advantage. Tommy and Nathan in defence dealt brilliantly with almost constant pressure and with help from Robert and some tenacious tackling from Luke, Cosmos struggled to break through. The couple of times Cosmos did get a shot on target the Wilvale goalkeeper - Max saved them comfortably. In the second half Wilvale played with the wind behind them, and spent most of their time in the Cosmos half. Shay and Jack, who were both playing up front, were seeing a lot more of the ball and making it difficult for Cosmos to get out of their half. About half way into the second half Robert latched on to a bad kick from the Cosmos goalkeeper, he burst into the Cosmos penalty area and shot for the far corner, the ball went in off the post, a great goal. Well done Rob. After the goal Cosmos put Wilvale under a bit more pressure, but again Luke, Max and Robert in midfield and Tommy and Shay in defence prevented Cosmos from getting any clear chances against Nathan in goal. Well done boys for your first win. |

Congratulations to Wilvale Rangers Warriors. Below is a report from their very proud manager Mark Couldridge on their success in the semi final on the 2nd March. ‘On Sunday 2nd March we played Hatfield Peveral at Chancellor Park in the League Cup Semi Final. We knew it was going to be a hard game. We were 1-0 up after 20mins. Alex Fielding’s shot nearly went in and George Simmons followed it up. It was 1-0 at half time. During the 2nd half we came out all guns blazing and were soon 2-0 up, a great header from Camaron Kelleher, then Kieran O’ Brien made it 3 -0. Then a great first goal for Wilvale from Jake Reeve who smacked it into the roof of the net to make it 4-0. All the boys played very well and they celebrated at the end soaking each other in water. This is the 3rd year in a row we have been to the Final, and we are still in the Knockout Cup Semi Final, still on for the league and hopefully heading for the Treble. As their manager I am so proud of them they all work so hard. HAPPY DAYS.’ |

Under 17's Reach KO Cup Final | Posted by
Sarah on Sat 08 Mar 2008 |
|
Congratulations to the under 17's getting through to the final of the KO Cup. Colin Jarman, the team's manager has been with the team since the under 7's and is very proud of the play throughout the season. His account of the match is shown below: 'We played at home v Tiptree Minors Kestrels in the semi-final replay (after drawing 3-3 aet in the first game). After a jittery start where we 1-0 down after 10 minutes to a quality ball into the area, which was smartly finished, Wilvale re-grouped and started to show the form that has seen the team unbeaten since November. Playing down the hill and with a strong wind Jack Mundy took a corner which swirled under the crossbar and the Tiptree keeper could only manage to palm into the net. Another corner saw Dan Harburn finish off a scramble in the 6 yard area to grab his 11th goal of the season. Tiptree looked threatening on the break and managed to grab an equaliser just before half time with another well finished cross into the Wilvale area which eluded the defence. Playing uphill into the wind Wilvale came out fighting 2nd half and scored two goals within 10 minutes, both from joint MOM Greg Flinders. Tiptree were awarded a penalty after Dan Kelly was harshly adjudged to have handled after trying to clear the ball. Matt Evans in the Wilvale goal pulled off a save that showed that there is some justice out there and warranted his joint MOM award. Greg completed his hat-trick, and make his tally 16 this season, to make the scoreline 5-2. Wilvale had to survive for another 25 minutes. Matt made another 2 wonder saves from Tiptree's free-kick expert before being beaten after a defensive mess up. Tiptree made it 5-4 in the last minute with Matt again showing his commitment to try and stop the goal with a nasty studs mark on his side to show for his efforts. Thankfully the referee blew up soon after and Wilvale Rangers U17's are making an appearance in the final to be held at Witham Town FC on 23rd March, KO at 3pm.' Well done Lads. |

Fantastic news - Southend United have scouted two players from Wilvale Rangers U13 Warriors. Very best wishes go to Daniel Belcher who is now being coached with the Elite Training Squad and to Jerome Wade who is being coached at the Centre of Excellence. In fact, Jerome has now signed a contract with Southend United to the end of 2008/09. Head of the academy Mark Bonner has reported that both boys are doing very well. The boys’ manager at Wilvale, Mark Couldridge is extremely proud of the players’ determination and is sure that they will go from strength to strength. Mark Couldridge is also reported as saying that he will only take 10% of Daniel and Jerome’s future football earnings – very fair of you Mark! |

Following a 10-2 win in the quarter finals of the league cup on Sunday 27 January 2008, Wilvale’s U13 Warriors are now in two semi finals, and they are still in the knock out cup. Way to go boys! In the league table they are currently placed second, only 2 points behind Burnham but with a game in hand. Note from Chairman - No worries boys, just look at the Premiership and you see the quality of the team in second place, breathing down the neck of Manchester United, and still in the important cup competitions Everyone at Wilvale wishes the team continuing success for the season, and congratulates their manager Mark Couldridge for a great job. |

FA Tesco Skills Programme Feedback | Posted by
Sarah on Fri 25 Jan 2008 |
|
Throughout January and February, FA skills coach Paul Barry delivered a 6 week programme with Charter Standard football club, Wilvale Rangers. Each week, he worked with a different age group, and presented training sessions to focus on the core elements of children’s football. These included ball familiarisation and confidence, twisting, turning and small-sided games, which were all coached in heavily influenced player-led sessions. The FA skills programme itself was launched back in September, having gained some initial funding (£3m) from the Government’s National Sports Foundation as well as a partnership with Tesco, resulting in 66 new coaches throughout 12 regions across the country being recruited. Wilvale Rangers are one of the first charter standard clubs in Essex to benefit from the programme which has spread a simple philosophy of fun and support. The sessions for the younger teams involved letting the children play and express themselves without interruption, whilst encouraging the youngsters to spend more valuable time with the ball. The older age groups took part in structured sessions following the progression of unopposed activities (technique based) into opposed game-specific scenarios (skill based), which then led into small-sided matches based around the theme of the sessions. The players worked on various elements that are crucial to mini-soccer, namely, movement on and off the ball, body position when receiving a ball, switching play and how to combine with team-mates in different ways. The teams that have taken part in the 6 week programme have all conducted themselves extremely well, which they should be proud of. The coaches of each team have been given various sessions plans to work on similar themes in the future, and hopefully, will continue to benefit from the FA skills programme throughout this season and many more. |

Under 9 Tiger's first point | Posted by
Sarah on Wed 09 Jan 2008 |
|
After a steep learning curve in the first half of the season as a newly formed team. The U9 Tigers obtained their first point of the season with a dramatic 4-4 draw against Mayland Village Wolves on Sunday 6th January. Mayland had previously beaten the Tigers 7-1 earlier in the season. This result shows a continued improvement from the team who have all worked really hard to try to catch up with teams who have already been playing for two seasons. Hopefully, this improvement will continue for the rest of the season. |

FA involvement with Wilvale | Posted by
Sarah on Sun 06 Jan 2008 |
|
 | The Essex FA Coaching scheme have kindly agreed to take several coaching sessions for the club's mini soccer teams starting on 7th January 2008. Below is an aticle from an article about Essex FAs skills programme from this month's issue of The ECFA magazine. Former Tottenham Hotspur Youth Coach and Leyton Orient player, Matt Joseph, is fronting a brand-new initiative amongst Essex's branch of innovative F.A. Skills Programme, aiming to raise standards amongst footballers aged 5-11 to improve the future of the nations's number one sport. Throughout England, a total of 66 full time, specialist Skills Coaches are focussing on strengthening techniques amongst their target age groutp, when ball skills are embedded. Essex are one of twelve fortunate counties to become involved and their coaches who also include ex-Bristol Rovers player Luke Williams, are all fully F.A. qualified having recently completed an age-appropriate skills course. They are delivering F.A. Skills 'Centres' in targeted local areas, where boys and girls are trained using world-leading coaching techniques. Younge players can, therefore, be inspired to get active and maximise their football talents, whatever their ability. Matt commented@ " The Programme has been well received by children taking part, with the emphasis on making the game enjoyable and creative in a learning environment. We're looking forward to reaching out further to local kids and having an even more positive impact."' |
